Terms of Service Molecule Identifier (MID)
Last updated: May 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the MID (Molecule Identifier) web platform available at moleculeidentifier.com. By registering for an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
The Service
MID is a free, browser-based computational chemistry platform that provides tools for spectral interpretation and molecular structure prediction, including NMR peak identification, NMR spectrum simulation, IR spectrum prediction, mass spectrometry analysis, and molecule identification. The service is provided free of charge to registered users. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice.
Account Registration
To access the tools, you must register for a free account using a valid email address or a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of third parties without authorisation. We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use MID only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with its intended use as a scientific and educational tool. You must not:
- Use the platform for any illegal, harmful, or fraudulent activity.
- Attempt to overload, disrupt, or circumvent the security of the service.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the service without prior written consent.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying algorithms or database content.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when using the contact form or other communication channels.
Intellectual Property
All content, algorithms, databases, software, and visual elements of MID are the intellectual property of the MID development team and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property law. You may use the outputs of the platform (predicted spectra, peak assignments, candidate structures) for personal, academic, and research purposes. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or commercialise the platform itself or its underlying data without express written permission.
Disclaimer of Warranties
MID is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Predictions, assignments, and structural candidates generated by the platform are based on computational models and should be treated as supporting tools — not as definitive scientific conclusions.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of inaccuracies. You are responsible for independently verifying any results before relying on them for research, publication, or regulatory purposes.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the MID development team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to loss of data, research outcomes, or commercial losses. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, which, given the free nature of the service, is zero.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising from these terms or from the use of the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email. Continued use of the platform after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
